Women in Fisheries Network- Fiji staff Joeli Billy last Saturday conducted a Job Application Workshop for World Wildlife for Nature (WWF) Pacific Volunteers.

The workshop was aimed at constructing an effective application letter, improving interview skills and CV writing.

Namrata Chandra, a Human Resources graduate said that the experience was a great learning opportunity for her.

“I am quite overwhelmed with the knowledge that I had received today and will be updating my CV as soon as I reach home” Chandra said.

Sharing similar sentiments, Napolioni Drose said that he was really inspired by the facilitators and found the practical exercises useful.

“This was a great learning experience for me as I have learnt the required skills from being given the opportunity to be able to merge the theory and the practical elements of the workshop” the programme President said.

“Regardless of the fact that we are only volunteering, it shouldn’t deter us in applying for a “job vacancy” because volunteering work attributes are equivalent to any work that is related”

“We (committee) would like to organize another workshop as such, as we have gained valuable information and skills from the workshop we had just organized”

The volunteers programme aims to effectively build a pool of suitable trained volunteers to support the delivery of WWF while simultaneously providing an opportunity to introduce and train qualified and passionate young people into the conservation sector.

A total of 25 participants attended the capacity-building session which included tertiary students, unemployed youths and school leavers.
