On the week of the 5th of February, the WiFN team reported back to the District of Conua on the on-going #SPSV project on “Activating & nurturing fisherwomen and their families for development” having reached its Intervention stage. Intervention measures provided were as recommended by the Tikina Conua fisherwomen emphasizing the importance of consulting communities ensuring locally led-solutions – in which protective fishing gears and necessary accessories were identified as a need to help ease stress on fisherwomen’s physical and mental health while maximizing their catch in a day.
WiFN-Fiji is grateful to OXFAM in the Pacific for the continuous funding support which made this project under the Australian NGO Cooperation Program and to the Nadroga Provincial Council for their support throughout this on-going project.
