In the last two weeks, Women in Fisheries Network team visited 10 communities out of which, 5 were identified for support to formalize their community disaster committee where the committees have women representation and also implement an effective community feedback mechanism system in the communities. The WiFN team presented these communities with a Disaster Preparedness Kit for Women fishers after a capacity building exercise on a preparedness plan when out at sea/mangroves when a disaster strikes. In collaboration with the Church Agencies Network Disaster Operations (CAN DO) Project facilitated a training on women leadership during disasters that aims to equip women with the skills and knowledge they need to take charge during crisis in Muanaira Village, Vutia in Rewa.
This project is funded by Australian Humanitarian Partnership that is intended to empower women as leaders during disasters and building a resilient community.
