Around 24 participants from the District of Nakorotubu underwent a Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) Training facilitated by Mr Nemani Susu from the Partners in Community Development Fiji and WiFN – Fiji. The training was held at the Namarai Village Community Hall on the 18th to 22nd November 2024, with the main objective to achieve outcome 8 of our @USAID PAF funded project – “Community engaged in livelihood recovery and resilience work for disaster preparedness and response planning through a disaster resilience capacity needs assessment and supporting a priority risk reduction action”. Participants included representatives from each village Disaster committees from the five communities in the Nakorotubu District (Naocobau, Nadavacia, Namarai, Saioko, Verevere) that were present in the training.
The training was intended to strengthen capacity needs on disaster preparedness and response planning using local and modern knowledge of community participants and priority risk reduction actions were identified.
We would like to acknowledge all the stakeholders: USAID Pacific American Fund, Mr. Nemani Susu (PCDF) and the Nakorotubu District representatives for making this training a successful one and we look forward to more effective training platforms for our communities and project partners in the future.
