Following the Basic Seafood Safety Training held in October 2025, the Women in Fisheries Network–Fiji returned to Viwa Village, Bau District, Tailevu during the week of 16 February 2026 to further support the hardworking women fishers of the community.
Through the generous funding of the Bamford Foundation, essential fishing equipment and materials were delivered to the Viwa Women’s Group designed to strengthen the women’s daily fishing activities, improve safety, and enhance the quality of their seafood products. This intervention builds on the skills gained during last year’s training, ensuring the women are equipped both in knowledge and in practice.
WiFN-Fiji extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Bamford Foundation, the Tailevu Provincial Council, Ms. Sera Vaniqi, and the Viwa community for their continued partnership and commitment to empowering women in coastal communities.
Vinaka vakalevu to the resilient Viwa women for your leadership, dedication, and contribution to sustainable fisheries.
