17 Women fisher participants from the Navolau and Nakorotubu Districts attended a 3-Day Training Program on Gender and Social Inclusion Training (GESI) that was held in Southern Cross Hotel in Suva from the 15th to the 17th of January 2024. The training was facilitated by The Pacific Community (SPC) through the Pacific-European Union Marine Partnership (PEUMP) programme and that was funded by the Pacific American Fund (PAF) Project.
The training is intended for the WiFN- Fiji secretariats and affiliated women community members GESI technical capacity for enhanced gender mainstreaming in their work at community level with focus on GESI sensitive community engagement and community-based fisheries management planning.
We would like to acknowledge all the stakeholders: Pacific American Fund, SPC – PEUMP and the Nakorotubu and Navolau District representatives for making this training a successful one and we look forward to more effective training platforms for our women fishers in the future.
