26 participants underwent a Waste Audit Training facilitated by Ms. Suzanne Turaganiwai Co-founder of Pacific Ocean Litter Youth Project-POLYP Fiji at the Peninsula Hotel in Suva on the 21st to 22nd October 2024, with the main objective to achieve outcome 6 of our USAID Pacific Islands PAF funded project – “The environment including marine areas are cleaner and a system exists for household waste management”. The participants are representatives from each village Health or Village committees from the two Districts of Navolau (Namuaimada, Nakorokula, Navolau 1 and Navolau 2) and Nakorotubu (Naocobau, Nadavacia, Namarai, Saioko, Verevere), including representative from the Ra Provincial Council Office and WiFN secretariats that were part of the training.

The training is intended to strengthen the capacity of communities, to conduct household waste audit, and to develop innovative solutions using the local knowledge of community members and project partners.

We would like to acknowledge all the stakeholders:  USAID Pacific American Fund, POLYP Fiji, Mission Pacific, Ra Provincial Council Office and the Nakorotubu and Navolau District representatives for making this training a successful one and we look forward to more effective training platforms for our communities and project partners in the future.
