The Women in Fisheries Network – Fiji (WiFN-Fiji) has now officially launched its 2016-2020 Strategic Plan and website!
A celebratory event was held on the 27th October at the Holiday Inn, Suva with old and new friends of WiFN-Fiji attending. Thank you to the Chief Guest Deputy Secretary for Fisheries, Mr Sanaila Naqali for attending and to Fiji Museum for generously attending and displaying fishing utensils from their collection. The Kadavu Choir sang and danced beautifully and gave a theatrical presentation of the Strategic Plan to Mr Naqali to officially launch.
To achieve WiFN – Fiji’s Vision and Mission, the following strategic priorities shall guide our work over the next 5 years
Priority Area 1: Improve livelihoods and food security opportunities for women in fisheries.
Priority Area 2: WiFNetwork – Fiji recognised as a research hub, clearing-house of information, and repository for issues related to women in fisheries.
Priority Area 3: Advocate for improved policy and policy implementation for greater gender equality in all aspects of fisheries;
Priority Area 4: Build a strong network and responsive organisational base that utilises the diverse knowledge, skills and experiences of its members.
